So now it's set. WrestleMania 2000 -- the greatest spectacle in sports-entertainment -- will be headlined by a World Wrestling Federation Championship match pitting Triple H against the Big Show. Whenever a new superstar is signed by the World Wrestling Federation, the ultimate goal of the front office is to get them into the main event of WrestleMania. So both Triple H and the Big Show should be commended and congratulated for their first appearances in the "Big Dance." For Triple H -- the World Wrestling Federation Champion -- this accomplishent is perhaps the highlight of his long and storied career. After literally working his way from the bottom-up since his debut in 1995, the "Game" has struggled through bad gimmicks and office-imposed punishments, before finding his niche with D-Generation X, and ultimately the McMahon-Helmsley era. After all the punishments, all the barriers, all the turmoil which had come his way, Triple H won his first Federation Championship last August, followed by his second title in September and his third -- and current -- championship reign, which began in early January. Now, by virtue of his brutal win over Cactus Jack, Triple H ascends to the royal throne of WrestleMania's main event. The Big Show had a quicker ride to the top, but one which was also full of blood, sweat and tears. Since his debut in the Federation last February, the Big Show has run roughshod over the competition. By August, he was a Tag Team Champion (with the Undertaker) and by November, he was a World Wrestling Federation Champion. And now, this highly touted free agent has reached the pinnacle of this business -- the main event of WrestleMania. On April 2, these two men will face off for the biggest prize in this industry. So what's the back story between these two? Well, other than the fact that it was Triple H who gave the Big Show the opportunity to earn the main event of WrestleMania, think back to the Survivor Series. Triple Threat Match. Triple H. The Rock. And the Big Show. Indeed, last November, it was the Big Show who defeated Triple H for the World Wrestling Federation Championship. After that loss, Triple H set the wheels in motion for the start of the McMahon-Helmsley era, and the Game would ultimately win back the Federation Championship from the Big Show. The Big Show likes to complain that he's the only former champion to never get a re-match. Well, big man, you've got your rematch. And it's on the biggest card of the year, the greatest spectacle in sports-entertainment: WrestleMania. And hey -- what would a WrestleMania be without the McMahons? Shane made his ominous return at No Way Out, siding with the Big Show for reasons unknown as of yet. But those reasons became a little clearer when Triple H won his match later in the night. Yes, Shane and Stephanie will be in opposing corners at the Pay-Per-View when their men, Triple H and the Big Show, go one-on-one. Many feel that Stephanie is the only reason why Triple H has been champion for so long -- could another McMahon have the same result for the Big Show? And is that why the Big Show joined forces with the heir apparent?
